The Eastern Red Redar is not a true cedar, it is actually a variety of juniper. It is a small to medium-sized aromatic evergreen tree. It can grow 40 to 50 feet tall in an oval, columnar, or pyramidal form and 8 to 15 feet wide. Female trees produce green to blue berries. The foliage is bright green to dark green developing from a needle-like younger leaf to a scale-like older leaf. The foliage can turn a pinkish hue in colder months. It is a very drought resistant tree, and good for screening and hedges.
