Crapemyrtle Lagerstroemia indica x Lagerstroemia faurei
Crapemyrtles are extremely useful summer flowering plants with varieties ranging in size from 5 to 25 feet. The average height is 15 to 30 feet and the average width is 6 to 15 feet with a rapid growth rate. There are even some miniatures growing from 18 to 24 inches. Best planted in full sun in moist, well-drained soil. Holds up under heat and humidity and will tolerate drought once established. Because of the variability in size and character, crapemrytles have many uses such as near an ornamental patio, garden tree/bush, for screening or hedging, and in the shrub border. Color varieties include light pink, coral pink, light lavender, white, dark pink to red, light magenta, dark red, dark purple, wine red, cherry red, medium lavender, bi-colored lavender, medium pink, purple, fuchsia, pink-lavender, rose, dark lavender, & dark red.
